Following The Court-Mandated Labours of Piper Phelps and Break-In Smackdown, the Holiday Rhode Pictures team shot our third short film of the year in late 2024.

Featuring a stripped-back narrative reminiscent of 80s slashers, the goal was to create a film rooted in the actors’ performances while also challenging ourselves on a technical level. Extended dialogue scenes, intentional lighting, and character-related colors all helped to build a narrative of a young couple on the verge of divorce experiencing the worst night of their lives.

On a technical level, Domestic Bliss marked our first time filming in a car. Extensive camera tests, some creative lighting techniques, and gently rocking the chassis all combined to help us create the illusion of a moving vehicle, allowing the actors to focus on their performance without having to worry about actually driving.
